Tested 11 Most Popular Truly Wireless Earbuds & Here’s The Winner

So here’s how it all started.

I recently bought a new phone (😃🙌), and as there is a trend with usually all flagships, nowadays the headphone jack was missing (😔). So now it was time to move away from my old and ever tangled earphones(I really liked them) to a new pair of truly wireless earbuds.

Okay, listen I know that there are a lot of great-sounding wired earphones out there in the market, but they are okay as long as they don’t get tangled or you knock off while pumping up in the gym. And the hard truth is that in  2019 wired headphones have become old school.

I started by asking some of my colleagues who were already using wireless buds for quite some time “which is the best truly wireless earbuds in the market?” and to my surprise, all had different answers.

So my team and I decided that let’s test out the…

11 Most Popular Truly Wireless Earbuds In 2019

So here are the results:-

P.S- During the test, we took into account the 4 pillars which make a great pair of truly wireless earbuds.

1. Comfort and Portability

This should be the most important factor to be considered before buying a pair truly wireless earphones. In fact, it’s the reason why truly wireless earphones are becoming so popular nowadays. They are smaller, lighter and the earbuds are more comfortable in general.

2. Battery life

Usually, most truly wireless earbuds can easily last between 3 to 4 hrs while the case can charge them about 3 to 4 cycles.

3. Range

Having a good range is cool, but most wireless earbuds generally support 10 meters easily without any distortion.

4. Audio Quality

The lack of wires makes them more convenient, but at the same time, the audio driver and battery have to go inside these small devices, and that’s where our top ones excel.

Enough. Now let’s dive in….

11. Sony WF-1000X

  • Adaptive Sound Control
  • Digital Noise Cancelling

  • Ambient sound mode
  • Battery Life (with Case)-9 hours
  • Battery Life (without Case)- 3 hours

  • Warranty- 1 Year

The real power of the Sony WF-1000X is that they offer a rare to get noise-cancellation, the fact that Sony has managed to pack it into a pair truly wireless is impressive indeed. Now please don’t expect the noise cancellation level to match that of a proper pair of over-ear headphones.

The controls on WF-1000X are straightforward to use. On the left earbud, you’ve got a single button which handles turning the headphones on and off and pairing them (NFC is also supported from the charging dock), and on the right earbud, there’s a single button for playing, pausing, skipping tracks, and answering calls. Sadly there is no volume control.

You may feel an occasional spotty connection between the two earbuds themselves (which rarely lasts for as much as a full second), and there is a lack of volume controls on the earbuds themselves.

So, which ones are you getting? – Tell us in the comments.

Not quite sure check our other reviews.

You are still confused.

Here’s a list of things to consider when buying truly wireless earbuds and earphones.

First of all, you want something that fits.  A lot of truly wireless earbuds are massive and barely fit inside the ear. Apple got this right on the Airpods by hanging the battery and receivers from that weird-looking pole that hangs down from your ears. Other companies, for some reason, decided to build outwards and that meant broad profiles and poor balance. Overly bulky earphones will be hard to fit, especially if you have small ears and the distribution of the weight at the back end makes them kind of hard to keep in place if you are doing anything more strenuous than sitting still.

Over the past year, I have tried around 30 pairs of wireless earbuds and 90% of them have sounded shocking. Not just bad by Try Headphones terms but in a way that anyone could notice the sound is horrible. Weak and thin bass is the most common thing and is often combined with a drawn-out shrill overall sound.

The other fault I see is a lack of volume. Some of these earphones do not get loud enough to make your music sound enjoyable. It can be quite frustrating to have your volume limited. I want earphones that can go a little up from my usual listening volumes, and I don’t want to be running my earbuds at 100% due to the noticeable drain on the batteries resources.

Finally, you have the pairing issues. Yes, some companies have sent me earphones where one of the earbuds lags slightly behind the other during playback. For the record, they get crazy when we refuse to write a review or recommend them to our readers.

At this point, our response has been pretty standard.  If you want a useful review of your headphones, make good headphones. Do not just do the bare minimum and expect a positive reaction.

I would expect a standard set of Bluetooth earphones with a cable to get between 8 and 20 hours depending on how big of a battery they can accommodate.  In my experience battery life on truly, wireless earphones are still quite bad, ranging from 2-3 hours on most units when playing back at moderate volume.  That is improving, and with advancements in fast charging and wireless charging, we see more suitable numbers and reduced charge times.
